Welcome to the Best Western York Pavilion HotelThe Best Western York Pavilion is an elegant Grade II listed Georgian country house situated just 1½ miles from the walls of the historic city of York. The Hotel owes much of its appeal to the unique and tasteful refurbishment meticulously undertaken during its transformation from a beautiful, yet run down private home with a fascinating history to a splendid 3star hotel, whilst maintaining all the fine architectural features associated with the period of its construction.
Once the family home of York businessman Xavier Prendergast who, with his extensive theatrical connections, brought many famous names to Fulford house and, in addition, brought the Beatles to York in the 1960s. His son is John Barry, the famous composer, who now of course lives in Hollywood. In 1988 the property was granted a change of use and the present owners, Andrew and Irene Cossins, began the task of converting the house into the unique hotel, restaurant, conference and banqueting venue that it has become. Situated alongside the A19, one of the major routes into the city, the Best Western York Pavilion is easily accessible from all major routes and is just 1½ miles from the railway station with a regular bus service stopping right outside the Hotel.
